RARE ANIMALS

     
NAME:   Platypus
HABITAT: Rivers and lakes
WHERE IT LIVES: Eastern Austria and Tasmania
CHARACTERISTICS: Weighs: 1 and 2 kg.
                                                Longitude: 40cm
                                                Longevity: 30 years
FAMILY GROUP: It is the only species in its family 
FOOD: Its power is carnivore
REPRODUCTION: Put between 1 and 2 eggs, incubation lasts 10 days, calves measure 25mm and constructs a nest digging a tunnel of 17 m.
CURIOSITIES: Mammal semiaquatic, mammal that put eggs, they mate in the water.

Liger

Name: Liger

Where it lives: In the Gir forest, in India.

 Class: Mammalia

Species: Panthera leo x tigris.

Family: Felidae

Characteristics: the Liger is the product of a cross between a male lion and female tiger.

Food: They are predatory carnivores, like their parents, and can weigh up to 500 kg and measure about 5 feet in length, so we see that the Liger is bigger in size than their parents. This is due, no doubt, to growth inhibitors are always inherited from the mother in the case of the father lion and tiger in the case so that the Liger will grow all their lives because they inherited this factor.
They are carnivores, like their parents so thry eat all kinds of animals of any size.
They can eat, deers, monkeys, some fish, peacocks, rabbits, etc..

Habitat: The liger is a product of human hands, so it is usually found in captivity.

Reproduction: Sometimes can have pups, but normaly no.

Mandarin Duck

Name: Mandarin Duck

Habitat: They live in Russia, China and Japan.

Where it lives: in zones with forest and near peaceful lakes.

Characteristics: they are about 45cm tall and they are around 500g. The male shows intense colours during the reproduction time but the female has pale colours.

Family group: in winter they travel with other duck groups.

Food: Their diet is always vegetables: seeds and other plants.

Reproduction: They do their nests in trees. Males and females incubate the eggs. The female puts about 9 or 10 eggs.

Curiosities: in Asia, people think that the Mandarin Ducks give money and luck. It's a typical present in inportant weddings.

My favorite movie

I saw a movie called 'Kinight Ride'.

The movie was of action and fiction and about a very special car.

Plot.- Charles Greiman is a very important profesor who has invented a car that speaks, thinks, drives alone, shoots and does a lot more things and at night. The car escapes whith the help of Sarah and Michael...

I relly like this movie, it's one of my favorite films, it has a lot of action and I like the cars a lot.



The Epaulette shark:

Epaulette sharks have nocturnal habits. Epaulette sharks "walk" by wriggling their bodies and pushing with their  fins.

1. Habitat:

They live in the tropical waters of Australia and New Guinea, in the coral reefs. They also are in the surroundings of Malaysia, Sumatra and the Solomon Islands. Epaulette sharks are found in shallow water to a maximum depth of 50 metres, and are often seen in water barely deep because they don´t saw their bodies. Normally they live 20 years, but it depends on the species.

2. Characteristics:

When they are babies her size is 15 cm, but an adult Epaulette shark  measures 60 cm; males and  25 cm; females . The maximum is  107 cm. The teeth are small, the eyes are oval and the five pairs of gill stills are small, with the four and fifth very close together.

3. Family group:

It kingdom is Animalia an also are in the class of Chondrichthyes. It binomial name is: hemiscyllium ocellantum.

4.Food:

The young sharks eat : polychaete worms, crabs, amidships, small teleost fishes and shrimps.

And the adults sharks eat: crabs, polychaete worms, snapping, mantis shrimp and small teleost fishes. This shark use its olfactory and electro-receptive senses to locate the prey. A curiosity is that the epaulette shark can  chew its food for up to 5-10 minutes.

5. Reproduction:

 The period of reproduction takes place from July to December. Copulation lasts about one and a half minutes. This species is oviparous, with females depositing eggs from August to December. The female drops the egg capsules two (rarely four) at a time every 14 days, producing a total of 20–50 eggs per year. Each egg case measures 10 cm long and 4 cm  wide. The young emerge after 120–130 days.

Tortoise matamata

- HABITAT: They live in SouthAmerica

- CHARACTERISTICS: It has a carapace long of 45 cm, it can be13kg.

- FOOD: They can eat fish, snakes, birds, frogs and crabs.

- REPRODUCTION: They put between 12 and 28 eggs.

- CURIOSITIES: It is very aggressive

NAME: Its scientific name is ”Tyto Alba”.

HABITAT: They live in worldwide but the like the cold and they live overcoat in the montanius area of Spain.

CHARACTERISTICS:It is an animal vertebrate namely he have internal esqueleton,33 or 35cm of lenght,80 or 95cm of wingspan,350g of weight

FAMILY GROUP:is a kind of ”estrigiforme” of the family of the titonidos namely owls.

FOOD: They it litle mouse, shrew, and hunting litle birds and insects.

REPRODUCTION:Puts 4 or 7eggs and incubating the egg 32days.

CURIOSITIES: The owls are huntings of animals harmfulfor the man.

Comversely this birds rarrely atack animals beneficialfor the agricultura.

All these advantages with its beauty have helped the owls are domesticated by man and held as skillful hunters and endearing companions

FLAMINGO

NAME: Pink flamingo

HABITAT: They live near the water

WHERE IT LIVES: They lives in the 2 hemisphere

CARACTERISTICS: There are pink, they measures are 80cm-1.40 m tall. They has got a long neck and a long pick.

FAMILY GROUP : There are birds

FOOD: They eat crustacean and seaweeds

REPRODUCTION: Near the swamp in a nest. They put a white egg.

The Flamingo born arround 31 days.

CURIOSITIES: They live 15 year and in a zoo 50 years.

They have 4 fingers in her feet.

They heavier is fron 2000 g to 5000g

They color varies, more pink ore more white

JERBO

NAME: Jerbo

HABITAT: They live in China and Mongolia in the desert of Mongolia and Taklamakán.

CARACTERISTIC: Their body is small and domed. They measured 7-9 cm long.

They have a long and fine tail, 18 – 25 cm long. Their front legs are sort and the back are long, they usit him for jump. They have a triangular head and a big ears.

Theire colors are light brown, black and white.

FAMILI GROUP: Dipodidae family ( rodents )

FOOD: cereals, corn and a little bit of vegetables ore fruit.

REPRODUCTION: of 24 days for 4 or 5 cries.

CURIOSITIES: The Jerbo is a nocturn animal

RARE ANIMALS: THE MONGOOSE

- NAME: Mongoose

- HABITAT: Their habit is diurnal, they living away from man.

- WHERE IT LIVES: Mongooses live in Africa, Asia, Europe, India, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Nepal and south of the Iberian Peninsula.

- CHARACTERISTICS: (How long, how fast, how tall, how heavy, how many years it lives…) 

They are between 23 and 65cm tall. They weigh between 1.3 y 1.7 kilograms. 

- FAMILY GROUP: Herpestidae.

- FOOD: They eat small mammals, birds, lizards, insects, snakes and eggs.

- REPRODUCTION: They breed all year. They have around 36 pups per year.
- CURIOSITIES: They respond to sounds of humans. They used signals to communicate. They doesn't have the same rights, some of thems are slaves and there is one mongoose who is special, is the queen.
